Five-time European champions Barcelona are eyeing a second successive win in the Spanish La Liga ahead of their home game with Real Valladolid who are one of the three newly promoted teams in the division this season.
Barcelona began the new La Liga season with a disappointing goalless draw at home to Rayo Vallecano. The Blaugrana finished the game with ten men after club skipper Sergio Busquets was sent off for two yellow cards in stoppage time. On their part, Real Madrid came from behind to beat hosts Almeria 2-1 with goals from David Alaba and Lucas Vazquez as they began the defence of their La Liga title with a win.
For the second set of La Liga games, Barcelona scored three times in the second half through Ousmane Dembele, Robert Lewandowski and AnsuFati on the way to an emphatic 4-1 win at the home of Real Sociedad. Polish striker and new signing Lewandowski had earlier scored his first goal for Barcelona to give them the lead in the first minute before the goal was wiped out by the equaliser from Swedish star Alexander Isak five minutes later. For Real Madrid, the La Liga holders made it two wins from two league games with the 4-1 away win over Celta Vigo. Veteran midfielder Luka Modric was one of the goalscorers for Real Madrid.
